Helen and Ricky, atop Mount Cathedral, break their embrace as Bo comes loping along with his revolver out. Bo lets a few shots go in the air for fun. He greets the loving pair, and his best buddy.
Bo:
Hey there Ricky, my best friend,
I stick with you right to the end.
We're stepping high; we have some fun,
I get my kicks when I pop my gun!
Ricky steps up and tells Bo and Helen about his passion.
Ricky:
Did ya ever get caught by the gleam in her eye?
Let me tell ya brother there's a time or two in my life.
Listen up sister hear the angels sing,
Beats in my heart, dig that heavenly melody!
Helen steps up and sings of her doubt, and her love.
Helen:
We're out on a limb in our loving light.
To follow your heart is never black and white.
Don't know about angels here in my heart,
But I'm learning how to hang
Out on a limb!
Ricky boasts of his prowess, and eyes the tree atop their mountaintop. Bo plays around with his revolver, playfully shooting at the stars in the sky.
Ricky climbs up in the tree, charming Helen.
Ricky: Look here Helen I can fly ...
Helen: Ha - and I'm out on a limb ...
Bo: Look at them stars pop pop ...
Ricky: Up this tree baby, out on a limb ...
Bo: Stars so bright pop ...
Ricky: Out on a limb baby out on a limb ...
Bo: Shoot them stars out ...
Bo in his absentmindedness spins around with his revolver pointing right at Ricky in the tree, and fires a shot.
The bullet strikes Ricky in the chest, and Ricky teeters on the limb, stricken. Helen and Bo stand back, aghast.
Helen: Agh!
Bo: Huh? What?
Ricky falls from the tree and lands before Helen and Bo, bleeding from the chest.
Helen and Bo: No!
Helen and Bo rush down to Ricky, shocked at what has happened.
Helen: Ricky!
Bo: Ricky, what have I...
Helen: Bo, what have you done?!
Bo; I don't know what's going, I... I didn't mean to... here, here...
Helen embraces and comforts Ricky.
Helen: Oh Ricky...
Bo: Here, take my gun...
Bo gives Helen the gun, needing to take action..
Helen: I don't want your gun!
Bo runs off stage right, frightful and try to reassure Helen.
Bo: I going to go, go get help, I'll be back, I'll be back!
